Obituary for Imogene Barnes

Imogene Barnes
Imogene Barnes
1924-2017

A native of Santa Rosa County, Imogene Driskell Barnes, passed from this earth to her heavenly home Sunday, April 23, 2017.

Imogene loved the outdoors and sports: basketball, water skiing, softball and bowling. She ministered to her family in quiet ways, such as, slipping by to cut the grass, clean out the gutters, doing laundry, and in countless other ways.

Imogene was predeceased by her parents, Mollie (Holland) and Marion Driskell, also Santa Rosa County natives; the father of her children, Joseph D. Evans; and a second husband, Howard Barnes.

Left to cherish her memory, are her children, JoAnn (Fred) McKeithen, Bill (Paulette) Evans, and Fay Evans; grandchildren, Kelly Demmi, John Stokes, Nan Foster, and Glenda Turner; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a very special friend, Clyde “Joe” Copeland and his wife Patty; and one sister, Myra Melton.

There will be a private graveside service. Lewis Funeral Home, Milton, has been entrusted with arrangements.

The family invites friends and neighbors to join them for a meal and fellowship from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the home of JoAnn McKeithen (5108 Oak Glen Drive, Pace).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Imogene’s name to Covenant Hospice or to a charity of your choice. (Covenant Hospice, 5041 North 12th Avenue, Pensacola, Florida 32504; online at www.choosecovenant.org; or by phone at 1-850-438-9714.)

The family is grateful to the staffs of the Forsyth House, Regency Hospice and Covenant Hospice for their care and comfort.
